Clatyon Syerl Dennis

Our father, grandpa and friend passed away at the age of 93 (almost 94) peacefully at thome with what he lovingly said was his “harem” by his side.
He was born in Myton, Utah to Syerl Dennis and Myra Ora Draper on April 30, 1922. He married Arlean Cleverly in July 1964. They moved to Bountiful where he had a beautiful garden. He really had a green thumb and was so proud of the tulips he was given on a trip to the White House.
He grew up on a farm in what he called the “basin” and had many adventures riding and roping. Those adventures as a young man wearing a cowboy hat and riding horses followed him into his career with the Salt Lake Stockyards. He could make a lasso and rope anything; from a Brahma bull running down State Street or one running up the Capitol Hill and down Memory Grove, to great-granddaughters with his oxygen hose. He truly was a cowboy!!
He is survived by his children: Vicky, Bill (Debbie) and Sandy; his sisters, Charlotte, Julie and Irene; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife, Arlean, stepson Rex, son-in-laws Mack and Ron, grandson Mack Jr., granddaughter, Robyn and great-granddaughter’s Megan and Essa Matse.
The family would like to thank Hospice for Utah for the loving care they gave to Dad. Once again they have been there for our family.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful prior to services.
