Clayter Forsgren

Our beloved family patriarch, Clayter F. Forsgren, 82, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Clayter was born on March 22, 1931 to John Clifford Forsgren and Mary Oneta Fuhriman, in Preston, Idaho. On September 9, 1953 Clayter married his sweetheart, Diane Burgi in the Logan, Utah Temple.
Clayter and Diane were blessed with two loving sons: Vance and Kent. They raised their family in Rexburg, Idaho, where they lived for more than fifty years. They moved to Fruit Heights, Utah in 2009 where they were welcomed by warm and wonderful neighbors and ward members. Clayter provided and took care of Diane and his family well and with much love until recently when Diane so tenderly cared for Clayter.
Clayter attended Brigham Young University prior to his mission where he played football for one year. After his mission he graduated from Utah State University in Logan with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 1956. Following graduation he moved to Rexburg to work for the State Highway Department. He later worked for the Atomic Energy Commission as a project engineer. He established Forsgren Associates in 1962, in his basement, and grew the business with offices in Idaho, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, and Montana until retiring in 1998. He was honored for his many professional and civic accomplishments, including receiving the Outstanding Businessman of the Year Award. He loved to fish, golf, and ride snowmobiles. He loved the outdoors and would regularly take fishing groups down the South Fork of the Snake River to fly fish. He especially loved cooking his famous dutch-oven chicken and potatoes for church groups and company parties.

Clayter was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various ward, stake, and regional callings, including Bishop, Stake President, and Regional Representative, as well as serving as an Ordinance Worker in the Idaho Falls Temple. He served a mission for the Church in Australia back when the journey took a month by boat. He was a man of faith who led by example. He loved the Lord and loved the opportunity to render service.

Clayter is survived by his wife, Diane, his son Kent (Amy), daughter in law Patricia Horne, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and his brother, Klane Forsgren. He was preceded in death by his son, Vance, his granddaughter Natalie, his great-grandson, Odin, and his brothers Seth and Don Forsgren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Fruit Heights Chapel, 901 S. Mountain Road, Fruit Heights, UT 84037. A viewing will be held Sunday the 16th from 6-8 PM at Russon Brothers Mortuary 1941 N Main St, Farmington, UT 84025 and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 AM prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery Monday evening at 5 PM.
