Cleo Rampton

March 12, 1924 — July 21, 2013

Our wonderful mother Cleo Clark Rampton 89, passed away on a beautiful Sunday morning July 21, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah with her loving family surrounding her. She will be held in remembrances as a strong and loving mother. Born in Bountiful March 12, 1924, she was the seventh child of 13 children of Nathan George Clark and Cleo Afton Call. Being from a large family they grew close together and each developed strong character.

Growing up in humble circumstances during the Depression, Mom learned the value of hard work at a very young age, sharing that “Clark Work Ethic” with her children. She insisted that it be followed continually. Her children were always first and she sacrificed a great deal to provide for their essential needs.

On a blind date arranged by Dad’s cousin, she met her eternal companion, Edward H. Rampton. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple September 1947 and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary shortly before Dad’s passing in 2012. Upon their marriage, he became the instant father of two beautiful little girls who he later adopted. Their legacy lives on through their posterity today.

Mom was employed at the Bountiful J. C. Penney store and retired after 29 years of service. Mom’s work at J. C. Penney’s fit naturally with her hobbies and interests. She was a master quilter, a skill she learned from her mother. She amazed many with her stitching abilities. Never an idle moment, Mom spent her spare time doing hand work, sewing or reading. When given the opportunity, she loved to travel, especially Europe where she occasionally helped in her son-in-law’s travel business. She and Dad enjoyed a number of different trips around the country and Hawaii.

Mom received a great deal of satisfaction serving her Heavenly Father. A highlight of church service was while serving at the Meadows Senior Living Center Branch near her home. She had a great love for the residents at that facility and looked forward to being there each week.

Cleo will be deeply missed by her children: Trauma Ann George, Carol (Jim) Cottam, Ted (Jana) Rampton, Marial Rampton (Don) Green; 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; sisters Naomi Perry, Clella Jolley, Afton Blair, and brother George Clark. Preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, five brothers, three sisters and a grandson.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Lakeview Hospital and Inspiration Hospice for their tender loving care and service.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful 37th Ward, 1540 N. 400 East. There will be a viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Bountiful, and Saturday morning 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment – Bountiful Memorial Park.
