Clifford Von Christensen died September 6, 2014, of a stroke brought on after battling Parkinsons disease for many years. He was born July 7, 1932, in Maywood, California, to Clifford Amasa and Afton Nebeker Christensen and grew up in Manila, Utah. He is the third of eight children and was raised on a 680-acre farm in Manila, Utah. The life on the farm was good for him. He helped feed 200 to 300 chickens, milk 10 to 20 cows, feed pigs, irrigate and help mow hay. He loved riding horses and going fishing. He met his sweet wife, Jean Clark, at BYU and shortly thereafter served in the military in Germany for 16 months during the Korean War. While in Germany, he and Jean wrote love letters every day. After college and until he retired he worked at Thiokol Chemical Corporation, west of Tremonton, Utah. It was In Tremonton that he and Jean bought their home and raised their six children. His life was full of love and service to family and church. Von is survived by his wife Jean, his daughter Vonda Miller and husband Doug with five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; daughter Lynae Romrell and husband Gary with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; son Michael Von and wife Christine (Hubbartt) with three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; son Douglas Boyce and Shauna (Hirschi) with four grandchildren; daughter Maren Decker and husband Mike with five grandchildren; and daughter VeOnna Aldred and husband Kevin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, September 13 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 142 West 200 North in Salt Lake City. Viewings will be held before the funeral services from 9:30-10:45 a.m. and on Friday evening, September 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 255 South 200 East in Salt Lake City. Burial will be in Morgan, Utah.
