Clifford Russell passed through the veil on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his home of pancreatic cancer. He was born February 20, 1934 in Seattle, Washington to L.B. Russell and Minnie Jensen Russell. He grew up in Seattle and Spokane. He enjoyed serving his country in the Air Force for four years and ten months (1953-1958). Clifford married Joyce Burningham on January 10, 1958 in Salt Lake City; solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1968. Together they had four children. His hobbies were model railroading and photography. He was a member of the Centerville and Utah State Historical Society. After the Air Force, he worked for T. V. Specialists for a few years. He enjoyed being on the Bountiful Police reserves. He later became Chief of Police of Centerville, Utah from 1963 to 1987. Clifford loved the people of Centerville. He spent many hours taking classes at the University of Utah related to his position. He taught the children in the local schools all they needed to know about police work and bicycle
safety. After retiring as police chief, he worked part-time for the Centerville Public Works Department for 11 years and the Parks Department for 10 years. He worked on the sound system at the Valley Music Hall shortly after the LDS Church purchased it. He was a cub scout master and cub scout committee chairman. In his latest calling he was the leader in his ward for the dry pack cannery in Centerville. He was also a faithful home teacher. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Clifford is survived by his wife and children; Ron (Patti), Brenda K. (Leon) Rogers, R. Kelly (Lilly), and Paul L. and nine grandchildren, Jason and Melissa Russell, Andrew, Joshua, Elizabeth, Kirsten and Amber Rogers, Tessa and Mathea Russell, his sister Ellen Sundy of Pennsylvania, sister-in-law, Penny Russell and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stanley, sister, Violet Huffman and two brothers-in-law.
A viewing will be held at the Bountiful Russon Brothers on Monday October 1, from 6 to 8 pm.Funeral services will be held October 2, at 11:00 am at the Centerville Utah Canyon ViewStake Center, 2110 N. Main Street.in Centerville, Utah. A viewing at the church will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 prior to the funeral. Interment at Centerville City Cemetery.
