Clothield Newren Rogers. Born in Provo, Utah on May 23, 1934 to Leon Newren and Clothield Young. She died February 17, 2012 in Bountiful, Utah. She Graduated from Provo High with academic scholarship in 1952. Clothield attended BYU where she met her eternal companion Kennett Hoggan Rogers. They were married on July 1, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised 8 children in their beautiful Bountiful home. Later they served an LDS mission in the Rochester New York Mission from 1992 1994.
Clothield faithfully and lovingly served in many ward and stake callings. Her favorite callings were in music and teaching primary. She taught primary children for over 20 years. She was often the favorite friend and grandmother to many children in the ward and neighborhood. Children were very dear to her, and she loved spending time with them. She was known for decorating home grown mini pumpkins and gum-drop turkeys for the children at holidays.
Clothield also had a great talent and love for music. She taught private voice and clarinet lessons, organized and directed The Treble Tones ladies chorus, sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 20 years and then with the Utah Symphony Chorus for 3 years.
Clothield cherished and loved her family. She held them dear to her heart with her time, talents, and prayers. She also truly loved all those she came in contact with and was a friend to those in need. She showed sincere compassion to so many. Clothields family and friends enjoyed her cooking and baking abilities. There are few things that Clothield delighted in more than serving a wonderful dinner, or sharing her homemade goodies, grape juice, tomato juice and salsa. Clothield also told wonderful stories of the past including accounts of her beloved ancestors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Quintin Carl (Matilia), siblings; Loey Newren, Alfred Newren, Amanda Newren, Marie Flanders, Aretta Ricks, and Ellen Willey. She is survived by her brother; Karl (Maxine) Newren, and seven children; Becky (Dana) Overacker, Dorice (Chris) Galbraith, Eileen (Scott) Werner, Kennett A. (Sandra) Rogers, Leon (Brenda) Rogers, Keith Rogers, and David (Teia) Rogers along with 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Wednesday February 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main. Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 1st at the Bountiful Eighteenth Ward Church house, 165 South, 1000 East Bountiful, UT. Viewing held 11:30 AM 12:45 PM. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Bountiful UT.
