Clyde Earl Hansen, age 94, our loving father, grandpa, husband, uncle and friend, tested positive for COVID in the early morning hours of Jun 2, 2022. He died quietly at home the next day, Jun 3, 2022, of COVID pneumonia and age, with family by his side.
Clyde was born in Ashton, Idaho to Oscar Julius George and Anna Alverda Bahlke Hansen. He was the youngest of 10 children. He married Donna Marie Fowler on Oct 26, 1948, in Farmington, UT. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, Oct 27, 1954. They were the parents of six children. After almost 60 wonderful years of marriage, Donna departed this earthly life. Clyde later married Ina Paul Young. Clyde was fortunate to have loved two marvelous women – his eternal companion, Donna and his sweet wife, Ina, with whom he was able to share many happy times.
He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a faithful man. He taught his family the importance of being faithful both in word and example. Clyde and his wife, Donna, served two missions together. The first was in the Little Rock, Arkansas mission and the second in the Nauvoo, Illinois mission. Clyde had a testimony of the importance of following the counsel of the leaders of the church. He also had a testimony of eternal families and he shared that with his family particularly when he wrote: “I want all my posterity to know that my earnest hopes and prayers are for all of us together, to take advantage of the Atonement and be able to return to live with Father in Heaven once again, TOGETHER”.
Clyde began working right out of high school and worked hard all of his life to provide for his family. He built the home where his family was raised. He had always wanted to have a handy-man business. He was able to achieve his goal and he spent several years living that dream until he decided to retire for a well- deserved rest.
Clyde was drafted and served in the Army during World War ll spending his service time in Camp Polk (now Fort Polk) Louisiana and Japan.
Clyde was a kind, friendly, loving man with a unique sense of humor that was well known to friends and family. He had perfected the art of teasing. His friends and family were often recipients of it which he always did in good fun.
He was always willing to help people anyway that he could. He was loved by those that knew him.
He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Clyde loved his children and grandchildren and was very proud of them. He considered himself to be the luckiest man on earth because of the family he had been blessed with – immediate and extended. Anything that he could do for them, he was there and also taught them to do things for themselves.
He loved good music and he often sang in groups. He was an excellent tenor. He and his wife, Donna, loved to dance. They were very good at it.
Clyde loved to golf, and he played as often as he could. He would golf with friends and neighbors, his grandsons, usually Cory or Avery, and a nephew, Wayne – whoever could get together for a round. Their golf games were great times spent together.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Ina, his children, Patricia (Tom) Clark; Julie (Tonga) Vanisi; Dean (Linda); Debra (Mitch) Hill; and Kristen Perez; 19 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, an infant daughter, Shauna Lee, his parents, and all of his siblings (8 brothers and 1 sister).
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Creekside Senior Living Center in Bountiful for their kindness and care of Clyde. Also, much heartfelt appreciation is expressed to Renew Hospice for the loving care they showed him and his family during the final hours of his sojourn here on this earth.
