Clyde Willey

December 30, 1920 — June 1, 2013

Biography

Born December 30, 1920 to Annie Gertrude Williams and Marvin Everett Willey. He died June 1, 2013 due to complications from a fall.

Clyde graduated from Davis High School in 1939 and later attended Weber State College. He was a Veteran of World War II; he enlisted in the Air Force on February 23, 1942 at Hill Air Force Base. His unit, the 11th Air Depot Group, served in North Africa and Italy. He loved and honored his country in every way. After World War II, he joined the Utah Air National Guard, serving as a Supply Sergeant. Retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in the 151st ARG, serving as the Group Comptroller. He also spent 38 years volunteering his service as a committee member and member of the Board of Directors to the Federal Employees Credit Union, later renamed America First Credit Union.

Clyde married Minnie Faye Lawson on July 26, 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1978. He later married Nora Mae Graham on June 3, 1982 in the Salt Lake Temple. They will celebrate their 31st anniversary on Monday, June 3, 2013.

He loved sports of all kinds, especially coaching little league baseball with his boys, watching his grandchildren score goals, throwing a pass, or hitting a golf ball; he enjoyed it all.

Clyde was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous capacities. He and Nora Mae served faithfully for 9 years in the Salt Lake Temple and later in the Washington DC Temple. He was a true Disciple of Christ, kingdom builder, great man of integrity, and wonderful Patriarch to his family.

Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Nora Mae; his children: Steven (Susan) Willey, Mark (Brenda) Willey, and MaryAnn Willey; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; his sister, Ella Jean Burningham; his brother, M.K. Willey and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Gertrude, his brother Walter Willey, and his daughter Sherry Willey Rodriguez.

Clyde loved life, lived it to the fullest, and made every minute count. He was not one for sitting on the sidelines. He treasured spending time with his family and giving service to all.

Our family would like to thank the University of Utah Hospital and Orchard Cove Rehabilitation Center for their tender care of our husband, father, and grandfather in his last days.
