Cody Paris Belgard (See Smoke)
July 23, 1988 – November 9, 2018
Our loving son, brother, father and friend Cody died unexpectedly in a police shooting on November 9, 2018. We miss him so much. His soft-spoken kindness and generosity touched everyone that knew him. He always made us smile. He taught us how to be humble.
Cody was born July 23, 1988, in Salt Lake City to Penny Ellen Green and Michael Paris Belgard. Even as a child, he was a gentle, playful soul. As the middle child, he looked up to his big brother Jesse and he took care of his little sister Sena. Cody called the three siblings ‘The Three As’: Athletic for Jesse, Artistic for Cody, Academic for Sena. Always the creative child, Cody started writing music at the age of 11. He found a way to express himself through music and it became his artistic outlet. He always had a pen and paper in his pocket to write down the rhymes that would come into his head. As a rapper, he named himself See Smoke when he was a teenager and released his album in 2010. He was proud of Glendale, the neighborhood he grew up in, and used it as an inspiration and source for many of his songs. He loved working in the recording studio with the local hip hop community and his cousin Flapp. One of his biggest fans was his son Alias. Cody was proud to be a father and loved to share his passion of music with his son.
He is survived by his parents, Mike and Penny Belgard, his brother Jesse, his sister Sena, and his son Alias. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Aunt Shiela, and Uncles Clark, Rocky and David.
Please join us to celebrate Cody’s life. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 25th at 6:00pm at Russon Mortuary, 255 S. 200 E., Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held November 26th at 11:30am, also at the mortuary.
Rap in peace Cody.
