Colleen Bibee Hansen

July 25, 1926 — August 6, 2018

Colleen Bibee Hansen, 92, returned to the arms of her Savior and husband August 6, 2018 after a prolonged battle with age-related maladies. Born July 25, 1926 to Charles Gladwin Bibee and Veteres Marie Rosquist Bibee in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the bonding agent for family members on both sides of the veil.

She met Dennis Holter Hansen while attending South High School. Their correspondence, during World War II, resulted in their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 14, 1947. They were married just shy of 70 years.

She had a simple, yet strong, testimony of the gospel which was evidenced by her service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This included Relief Society, meetinghouse library, Primary and family history assignments. She was also a temple ordinance worker.

Colleen's principal "career" was within the walls of her homes in South Salt Lake, Millcreek and Bountiful. There she served as artist-in-residence, CGO (chief genealogical officer), head chef and loving caregiver. Her crowning achievement was nurturing three children; Steven (Sharene) Hansen, Linda Vaughan, and Richard (Tracy) Hansen who survive her along with eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a sister (Barbara Olsen). She was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister (June Richards) and grandson (Steven Merrick Hansen).

An avid crafter, seamstress and talented artist, her beautiful handiwork was prized by family and friends. Her creations won several awards. She was always happy tole painting, sewing clothes, doing counted cross stitch, creating dried flower arrangements, and making porcelain dolls and holiday decorations.

Colleen could build or fix almost anything; from replacing an old car's accelerator pedal with a plastic lid from a shortening can to erecting a functional rock waterfall next to her patio.

A funeral will be held at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful, Utah on Saturday, August 11, 2018. A visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by services at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
