Our dear sweet Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and Aunt, Colleen June Bailey Whitener passed away Monday, February 8, 2016. Colleen was born March 6, 1928 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Kenneth Muir Burningham and Hazel Martin. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1946 and married Deo Facer Bailey in 1947 and they made their home in Lava Hot Springs. Colleen and Deo later divorced. Four children were born to this marriage Karen (Jan) Thomas, Kathleen (Jay) Krek, all of Kaysville,UT., Wayd (Pam) Bailey in Rigby, ID. and Kyle (Julie) Bailey of Happy Valley, OR.
On December 31, 1970 she married Fred G. Whitener. They enjoyed 43 wonderful years together and lived in Pocatello, ID., Beaverton, OR. and Bountiful, UT., where Fred passed away in January 2014.
Mom was lonely after Fred's passing and chose Apple Tree Assisted Living in Kaysville, UT as her new home where she enjoyed her activities and made wonderful new friends.
She is loved and will be missed by her children, 9 grandchildren and her 21 great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored.
Colleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred, her sister Betty Grace of California and a sweet grandson Brandon Eli Thomas.
A viewing will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Farmington Mortuary, 1941 N. Main. Colleen will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. in the family plot at the Ogden City Cemetery.
