Colleen Ellis Love, 89, passed away peacefully though unexpectedly in her sleep on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Farmington, Utah.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 3, 1935, to Owen William Ellis and Mary Lucille Clark. She was reared in Farmington with her three brothers and one sister. She graduated from Davis High School and then studied nursing at BYU.
On November 23, 1955, she married the love of her life, Steve Rigby Love, for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. They had met at Lagoon amusement park in Farmington, where they were both employed.
Active her entire life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in a stake Young Women presidency and in ward Young Women and Primary presidencies. She loved to teach about Jesus Christ and taught many classes, including Sunday School gospel doctrine and marriage classes.
Colleen and her husband, Steve, served as ordinance workers in the Bountiful Utah Temple for over eight years. They also served two missions together, one in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and one in San Francisco, California. Additionally, they served the members of the South Davis Community Hospital Branch for three years while Steve was the branch president.
She had a strong desire to help others and so she studied to become a hypnotherapist. She became board certified and operated her own business, Bountiful Hypnosis, for 30 years. She served on the board of the Hypnotist Examining Council of Utah.
Her family was her greatest love. She had five children, which included a set of twins.
Colleen was creative and loved to arrange flowers, decorate cakes and dip chocolates. In their beautiful home, she frequently entertained family and friends, delighting them with her gourmet cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Steve, and children: Diane (Robert) Bachman, Greg (Vanessa) Love, Carol (Sterling) Jensen, Mark Love, and Melanie (Scott) Lloyd; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother Richard Ellis; sister Elaine (Paul) Beckstrand.
The funeral will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 11 a.m., with a visitation prior from 9:45 to 10:45. Dry Creek Ward, 720 East 550 North, Bountiful, UT 84010.
