Colleen Parker

November 1, 1927 — July 6, 2012

Colleen Lewis Parker passed away on July 6, 2012 at her home. She was born November 1, 1927 in Provo, Utah to Nathan Martin Lewis and Maggie Ann Jacobsen Lewis. She grew up in Oak City, Payson and Springville, Utah. She graduated from Springville High School and studied art at BYU. She served an LDS mission in the Northern States Mission. While there, she met Don Timothy Parker, and they were married and sealed for time and eternity on July 21, 1952 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Madison, Wisconsin; Dugway, Utah; Ames, Iowa; and moved to their home in Bountiful in 1963, where they spent the rest of their lives.
Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three sisters. She is survived by her brother, Celdon Lewis, and her children, Nathalie (Steve) Ellingson, Timothy (Ellen) Parker, Elizabeth Marsh, John (Karen) Parker, Valerie Price, Andrew (Sonia) Parker, Priscilla Steed, and David (Vickie) Parker, 25 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She also left behind an amazing number of friends, young and old. She served as Relief Society president of her ward for many years, as well as serving in the stake Relief Society presidency. She was active in Bountiful City, participating in the Centennial and in the publication of books of historical homes, as well as her contribution to Bountiful’s art heritage. She was on the Bountiful/Davis Art Center board of directors and was a founder of and contributor to the Lamplight Art Gallery on Main Street. She kept a studio at her house where she taught students and experimented with art media and techniques until her final illness in April 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Bountiful Central Stake, 640 South 750 East, Bountiful, Utah. Viewings will be held from 6-8 pm, Friday, July 13th at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, and from 9:45-10:45 am at the church prior to services. Interment – Hooper City Cemetery.
