Constance Simmonds

Constance Mildred Johnson Simmonds was born January 26, 1922 in Seattle, Washington. She was adopted as an infant by Edward and Alma Johnson. She spent her youth growing up playing in apple orchards, riding horses and loving the outdoors. She graduated from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing in 1945, where she served as Class President. She married Jack Simmonds in 1945, and they settled in Bountiful, Utah in 1948. She was a dedicated and caring person, and had a successful and long-lasting career as a nurse at St. Marks Hospital. After retirement from nursing in 1983, she began showing her beloved Dachshunds at dog shows around the country. She became an AKC judge and served many positions in the Mt. Ogden Kennel Club. Connie lived a life of service. She was compassionate, kind, and always gave generously of her time and talents to others. She was witty and fun and could always be counted on to tell jokes or lighten a heavy mood with humor and lightheartedness. She was independent, strong and capable, and set a wonderful example for her children to live by. She was an active community volunteer, serving for many years at both Lakeview Hospital and the Golden Years Community Living Center. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heritage Place Bountiful Memories Unit and to her Hospice for Utah team. Connie leaves behind her daughter Catherine Browne (Scott), sons Richard (Launee) and John (Sharrae), as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Private family services will be held at a later date.
