Cozetta Hirschi, 84, joined our Heavenly Father on January 25, 2016, at one of her son’s homes in Arizona.
Cozetta was born May 27, 1931, in Brigham City, Utah to Gustave Emil Petereit and Ada Margaret Keller Petereit.
Her early years were spent in her Grandmother Mattie Keller’s home with her mother. As she grew into early youth she read books, hiked the mountains and rode horseback with friends. In her high school years she worked at the Capitol Theatre, Cooley Memorial Hospital, and as a window trimmer at JC Penney, swam in races, sang in Glee Club and played the violin in the orchestra. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1949.
In 1948 she had her first date at Lagoon with her sweetheart Maun Goodliffe Hirschi. It went well and they married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, on November 18, 1949. While they lived in various cities in northern Utah in the early years of their marriage, the majority of their 53 years together were spent in Bountiful, Utah.
Cozetta was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many roles ranging from pitcher on the softball team to Primary President. Her strong organizational skills were used in various church secretary and librarian roles over her lifetime as well. Cozetta’s favorite church calling was 16 years as a Scout leader with the highlight sharing Tracy Wigwam with her Scouts and children.
Her interests included family, gardening, scrapbooking, sewing and reading. She devoted much of her time and energy to caring for her family, creating memory books, tending her garden and her church. .
Cozetta is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, Richard (Lisa) Hirschi, Robert (Beth) Hirschi and Paul (Linda) Hirschi; 38 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law, Virginia Lorscheider, Joyce (Keith) Meldrum, Faunell ; brothers-in-law, Delbert (Marvell), Weston (Beverly).
She was predeceased in death by her husband Maun Goodlife Hirschi, her son, David Maun Hirschi, and her brother-in-law Wayne Hirschi.
Funeral services will be held Friday February 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 30th Ward Chapel, 2200 South 650 East in Bountiful with a viewing, at the church, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
Viewing at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main will be Thursday February 4, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Research or Primary Children's Medical Center.
