Cozette Thorpe Poppleton Anderson

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away May 19, 2021, surrounded by her heartbroken children. Our consolation was the warm and eager welcome she no doubt received on the other side. Led of course, by her beloved husband, Larry. Finally together again.

Cozette was born May 5, 1948 in Logan, Utah. She is the youngest of four children born to Elizabeth “Beth” and Marvin Larsen Poppleton.

She married Darrell Larry Anderson in the Logan LDS Temple on July 28, 1967.

Cozette was a lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her youth she was active in all the group programs, receiving individual awards and her Gold Medallion. She graduated high school seminary and was a youth dance director. As an adult she served in a variety of leadership and teaching positions in the Primary, Young Woman and Relief Society programs. Her favorite service was the Scouting program where she served as a den mother for many years. She helped several of the young men in her ward earn their Eagles, even earning an award for her service. She kept a little list of “her” Eagles with her until the day she died.

Cozette prided herself on keeping a beautifully organized, cleaned and well-kept home. She was a talented cook and craftswoman. She liked decorating for holidays and arranging her many collections into pretty displays. Cozette crocheted countless blankets, baby blankets and burp cloths. She made beautiful needlepoint and cross-stitch artwork. She had a gift for gardening and always had the biggest and most beautiful blooms in any neighborhood. She went so far as to earn her Master Gardener Certification through USU. Her children always turned to her, and her green-thumb, to help them in their own gardens.

Cozette worked several jobs in her adulthood. She was a very successful Avon sales representative for 20 years. She worked in various office jobs and sales positions until eventually finding herself managing a cute little gift shop in Farmington that brought her much joy for many years. Cozette loved to meet new people and always found happiness in new friendships.

Cozette’s greatest love was her family. She dedicated her life to promoting her husband and children and tending to their every need. She volunteered countless hours in their education, schooling, and individual pursuits. She always welcomed her childrens’ friends into her home and enjoyed having her home be the hangout place. Cozette took great pride in her children’s successes and was always eager to help in their challenges. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything and found great pleasure in doting on them and finding ways for “Grandma Zette” to spoil them rotten.

Cozette and her husband Larry enjoyed over 43 years together. She was his biggest supporter, and he hers. They courted their whole lives and loved their date nights of dinner and a movie. They loved to attend plays and performances. They loved to go get a drink then travel on pretty roads and explore beautiful places. They enjoyed traveling together or with their friends and family, all around the world.

Cozette lived a beautiful life and spread much joy and warmth wherever she walked. Our lives were graced by her presence and now, with her in it, heaven is an even better place. Also, the gardens in heaven are about to level-up. At very least, heaven is about to find out how they can better prune the trees.

Cozette is survived by her 4 children; Eric Anderson, Janell (Lynn) Robinson, Michele (Michael) Nelson and Jamie (Steven) Wayman; Her 13 grandchildren, DJ, Austin, Aubrey, Daphne, Hanalee, Miles, Brooklyn, Beau, Quincey, Quaid, Noah, Abigail, Sam and their spouses: her 2 great-grandchildren, Tatum and McCoy; her brother Roy (Tammy) Poppleton. She is also survived by many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Cozette was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Larry Anderson; her parents, Marvin and Beth Poppleton; her sisters, MarvaLee Poppleton and Nedra Woodland; Her parents in-law, Darrell W and Betty Anderson.

Special thank you and recognition to the many staff members at Legacy House Assisted Living Center of Bountiful and Brio Home Health and Hospice. Your professional, loving and gentle care and friendship of our Mother, especially during the pandemic, was a lifeline for our entire family. We are so grateful. Thank you.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Russon Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah where a viewing will be held on Sunday evening, May 23, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service.
