Crae Forrest Hancock “Cowboy”, born 10/3/48, transitioned to peace on 5/9/22, after battling metastatic prostate cancer. Crae was unique, talented, and had an uncommon willpower. When Crae set his mind to something, IT HAPPENED. Crae had a lifelong love affair with vanilla ice cream, the need for speed (cars, boats and planes) and was most at peace when riding horses. Up until his final days Crae could be found eating frozen vanilla custard from Nielen’s, smiling giddily as he was transported to doctor appointments in a Tesla, and had a view overlooking a pasture, with an old horse grazing dandelions.
Crae was a poet, a songwriter, guitar player and published book author. Crae was a philosopher and teacher of life, walked his own walk, thought his own thoughts, and talked his own talk. Crae was the hardest working person you ever did meet, equipped with the strongest hands, forged from steel. Crae was tall in stature with the strength of a superhero. When he walked into a room – people took notice.
Crae was innovative and determined. He could take an old car or truck and turn it into the fastest and best looking on the track. He would then race those vehicles to many wins on his self-built, sanctioned sand drag, in Las Vegas, NV. Crae was a self-taught builder of homes and would do everything from pouring the foundation to installing the roof. Crae constructed many of the homes he lived in as well as those of friends and family.
Cowboy Crae had a heart of gold – one his family and friends will forever miss. Stay ever close, Crae, and lead us on the straight and narrow. We love you, your friends and family.
Crae is survived by his 2 sisters, Shana Witbeck and Cheryl Brown, and two brothers Blake and Brett Hancock. Crae is also survived by 4 daughters and 1 son, Tiffany Chesnos, Tara Hancock, Brooke Osman, Halle Hancock and Cody Hancock.
