Crystal Clayton, 76, of Centerville, Utah, passed away on December 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. A loving mother, devoted grandmother, sister, and friend to many, Cris left a lasting legacy of kindness and warmth.
Born on November 19, 1948, in Ogden, Utah, to Melba Annie Hancey Buttars and Clair DeVerl Buttars, Cris was the fourth of ten children. She is survived by her siblings Clint (deceased) (Marsha), Aaron (deceased), Gail (Joel), Brent (Bobette), Bob (Melissa), Lance (Julie), Lorna (Bill), Lisa (Craig), and Holly. She was a steadfast member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life, finding joy and purpose in her faith.
While Cris devoted her life to serving others, her deepest love was for her Savior, Jesus Christ, which guided her every act of kindness and service, and for her three children, who were the center of her heart.
In 2001, she served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pennsylvania, where she touched the lives of many with her compassion and unwavering faith. She lovingly cared for her parents, Melba and Clair, until their passing, demonstrating her boundless dedication to family. Additionally, she cared for her Aunt Leone in her later years, providing unwavering support and love until Leone's passing. Cris also provided steadfast support to lifelong friends, exemplifying her selfless nature.
Her spirit of service extended to her family, where she was lovingly referred to as the “other Mother” and “Grandma Cris” by her nieces and nephews. After the passing of her mother, Melba, Cris became the anchor of the family, offering unconditional love and unwavering support to all. Her delightful sense of humor and joy brought smiles to everyone around her.
Cris had a green thumb and cultivated a garden that many referred to as her personal Garden of Eden. She found great peace and happiness in nurturing life through her plants, a reflection of the care she showed to those around her.
Cris is survived by her children, Tiffany (Jack), Michael (Teresa), and Kelly (deceased); her grandchildren, Chloe, William, Boyce, Victoria, Anders, Summit, Jordan, Quinton, Savannah, Ryleigh, and their partners, as well as her great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.
