1986 Curtis 2023

Curtis Alvin Slagowski

August 13, 1986 — October 2, 2023

West Bountiful, UT

We are heartbroken with the loss of our Son, brother, father and friend, Curtis Alvin Slagowski who passed away on October 2, 2023, at the age of 37.

Peace comes to us knowing he was embraced in the arms of a loving Heavenly Father who knew of his battles with addiction.  We will cherish the memories Curtis left behind, especially his contagious laugh, his joyful spirit, his amazing sense of humor, his whit, all mingled together in a fun-loving personality.

Curtis loved playing football, baseball, and soccer with his friends. A highlight for Curtis while in High school was participating on the football team and winning back-to-back state championships.

Curtis loved being outdoors, camping with family, fishing, roasting smores over a fire, and riding 4-wheelers.  He loved cooking and especially eating food, spicier the better. He found peace in music, playing the guitar, and quietly sitting in a boat on a lake soaking up the sun and beauty around.

No one knows how addiction works and no one knows the silent struggles addicts go through and for 16 years Curtis was consumed with those battles.  Finally in August 2020, by way of a miracle, Curtis was accepted into the Red Barn Academy in Farmington.  This became home to him, where he learned accountability, integrity, life values and skills.  Our family will be forever grateful to the Red Barn who gave Curtis the opportunity to embrace life with love and happiness again.  Spending time with his children Aiden and Gracie was important to him, they were able to make and share memories together. Curtis certainly had two families that he dearly loved, his own family and his Red Barn family where he gained incredible friendships.  Thank You for giving Curtis the chance to become a loving father.

Curtis was born on August 13, 1986, in Bountiful Utah.  He leaves behind his two children, Aiden Russell and Gracelynn Lee Slagowski, his mother and father Mark and Jana Slagowski, grandparents, Alvin and Janet Roberts, siblings Joshua (Shay) Slagowski, Tally (Jeff) Ellis, nieces and nephews, Stewart, Arleigha, Jack, Elijah, Cameron, Corbin, Gentry, Briella, Brady, Greyson, cousins, and friends.  Preceded in death by grandparents Neil and Leotha Slagowski.

Curtis it will be hard going through life without your laughter, without your hugs, without your smile, without hearing the word “UNBELIEVABLE”.   We pray you feel our love, be happy, rest in Peace till we embrace again!
