Dale Curtis Tyler passed away early Sunday morning December 16, 2012 at his home in West Haven, Utah.
He was born September 22, 1924 to Marvin and Emma Hunter Tyler in American Falls, idaho. He was the last of their ten children. He was raised in Rockland, Idaho which was, in his opinion, almost heaven.
He served in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII as a tailgunner on a B-17 Bomber that flew out of England. He was discharged in September 1945.
On November 14, 1945 he married Theona Morris. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on October 12, 1951. They had five sons and one daughter.
Dale always considered himself a farmer, though as young man he worked for Union Pacific Railroad. In 1957 he was hired by the U.S. Postal Dept. He spent ten years in the Railway Postal Service until the Post Office cars were taken off the trains. He had worked out of Salt Lake and transferred to the SLC Post Office in 1967. During his years at the P.O., Dad and Mom made their home in Bountiful until his retirement in 1985, when they returned to Rockland to farm.
In 1987, Dad and Mom served an LDS Mission at the Chicago, Illinois Temple returning to their home in 1988.
In 1998 Dad and Mom moved to West Haven, Utah to be closer to the medical services Mom needed. Mom passed away November 4, 2004.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, his wife, Theona, his son, Chad, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Jim & Peggy, West Haven, Vance & Carolyn, Clinton, Dennis & Michelle, Bountiful, David & Jana, Perry, and Lee Ann & Mark Tebbs, Cedar Hills. He has 32 surviving grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
His older sister, Fern Udy of American Falls, Idaho also survives him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012 at the West Haven LDS Chapel, 4781 South 4875 West. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main and Friday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in Rockland, Idaho.
