Dan Brady Henderson

January 20, 1924 — November 10, 2015

Dan Brady Henderson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, completed his earthly mission on November 10, 2015 at the age of 91. He was born January 20, 1924 in Arimo, Idaho to James Woodland and Golda Brady Henderson. He spent his childhood and youth in Arimo, where he helped his father operate the store. After high school graduation, he moved with his parents and sisters to California.
Dan graduated from Porterville Junior College and then from BYU with a degree in Marketing. At BYU he met Dorothy Petty and they were married on June 7, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the parents of 6 children. They have 24 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. Dan spent his life in service to his family, his friends, and all he associated with. His love for his fellowmen was exemplary to all of us.
Dan worked in the retail business for several years, including work at J.C. Penney, Firestone and ZCMI. In 1975, he began his employment with the LDS church where he worked for fifteen years. As retirement drew near, Dan and Dorothy were called to the Nigeria Aba Mission where Dan’s experience with Church financial records was put to good use. This mission was cut short when Dan contracted malaria, but Dan and Dorothy were able to complete a mission to the Oakland California visitors center a few years later. Dan held many callings in the LDS Church, including service with Dorothy at the Bountiful Temple for several years.
Dan was a member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers where he made many friends. He also enjoyed photography, stamp collecting, and traveling and camping in the “Blue House”, a converted Volkswagen van.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joane Jones. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children: Sheryl, Chris Parkin (Dennis), Karen Munns (Monte), Dallin (Carol), Jay (Teresa), and Annette Thornock (Curtis); his sister Nada Floisand; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family expresses gratitude to the dedicated employees of Legacy House Bountiful and Aspire Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of Dan during the last months of his life.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association of Utah or LDS Humanitarian Services would be appreciated.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Bountiful 12th Ward, 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Saturday morning from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
