Dan William Maughan, 82, Kaysville, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017, from natural causes at home.
Dan was born March 21, 1934, to Cortley Maughan and Wanda Ashby, in Burley, Id. Where the family lived until he was 10 years old, when they moved to Salt Lake City. After high school, he joined the Airforce where he served in the Korean conflict, and enjoyed seeing many foreign places. While stationed at Hickam Air Force base, he sent money home to have his sweetheart fly over to marry him in the La’ie, HI. LDS temple. After their time there, they moved to Los Angeles where he finished his degree in Aeronautics while working for Western Airlines. Dan and his wife Jean moved around between Utah, Hawaii, and Arizona. Upon returning to Utah they settled in West Bountiful for 18 years, where he enjoyed growing a large garden and raising livestock. Before moving to Kaysville, where he liked to share his jokes and great sense of humor with family, friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his Wife, Jean, Children, Wade, Licia (Mike) Clark, Tanya (Aaron) Bactista, 6 grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren, brothers Bob Maughan, Jim Maughan, and Joe Maughan, Sister Meryl Seeley, many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene Maughan and daughter Paige Maughan.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville 12th Ward Crestwood building, 1039 Crestwood Rd., Kaysville, UT. Family and friends may call Friday evening from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main St., Farmington and Saturday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons.
