It is with heavy hearts that we lay to rest our son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, Dan Davies.
Dan was born in Penzance Cornwall, Great Britain on July 16th, 1971. He was born to John (Taffy) Davies and Wendy Davies at the Bolitho Maternity Home, which overlooked the famous St. Michael’s Mount.
As a young boy, Dan was very obedient and very honest, but there were a few times that he left school without anyone knowing and his Mum would return from the beach and find him in the garden, instead of at school!
Dan moved to America with his family when he was nine years old. That may be why one of his favorite songs is Neil Diamond’s, ‘Coming to America’.
Growing up he surrounded himself with friends, “usually the kids with the largest stature”. While attending school he became involved with the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of an Eagle Scout. He then graduated from Davis High School in 1989, and went onto serve an LDS mission to Oaxaca, Mexico and learned to speak Spanish fluently, even though he failed Spanish class in High School!
Dan married Stacy in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1994. Their hopes and dreams were realized with the birth of their two daughters. First, was when they welcomed Kya in 2003, and again when Kiera was born in 2007. Dan’s daughters were everything to him. They loved that he would be over-the-top with his comedic accents and making silly tutorial videos. He was fun to play football with and could always make them smile by dancing and using his British accent.
While raising his family and traveling the world for business, he was able to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Science.
As he traveled the world, cuddling Koalas, climbing steps of Temple Ruins, playing golf in Ireland, even pretending to be Jason Bourne in Russia, and would keep us all entertained with a yearly video montage reel.
His sisters will always remember Dan as being very protective of them, but his brothers will always remember the constant competition of who was strongest, or who could run the fastest.
Dan is survived by his daughter’s Kya and Keira, Mum, Wendy. Sisters, Sara (Scott), Jemma (Carter), Jenifer (Ryan), and Lucy (Jake). Brothers, Gareth, Ben, all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and his friends that were more like family.
