Daphne Whitcraft Chappell April 23, 1932 – February 4, 2011

Daphne Whitcraft Chappell, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011 at age 78. Daphne was born on April 23, 1932 in Kalispell, Montana to Thomas and Lyle (Shelton) Whitcraft. She married Van A. Chappell on August 20, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. Her father was in the National Park Service. She was born by Glacier National Park and grew up in Grand Teton, Petrified Forest and Carlsbad Caverns. She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri where she majored in music. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her favorite calling was serving as a chorister with the children in primary. She loved to sew clothes for her children and grandchildren. She had a good sense of humor and loved to read. Daphne is survived by three children, Janet (Roger) Shumway, Carol (Dallin) Henderson, Thomas W. Chappell, and sister, Cathy Whitcraft. She has nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Van. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the North Canyon Fifth Ward, 2505 S. Davis Boulevard, Bountiful, Utah. Family and friends may call Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. and Tuesday from 1:45-12:45 pm at the church prior to services.
