Daphne Jean Smith Aller passed away on November 16, 2018. She had spent the past few months living across the hall from her beloved twin sister, Denise. She was born to Joseph Fuhriman Smith and Esther Helen LaValley Smith on March 16, 1928 in Great Falls, Montana and grew up in Preston, Idaho.
Daphne took music lessons and was a talented musician, playing the piano and the cello. Denise played the violin. They participated in string trios and played in the Utah State University Symphony orchestra while they were in college.
She married Keith Stephens Aller on August 31, 1947. They have four children: Hollie Aller Barenz, Robyn Aller Goeller (Rick), Keith (Monty) LaMont Aller (Cyndi), and Mathew Joseph Aller (Teresa). Her favorite family vacation spots included Bear Lake and Yellowstone. We all loved visiting Preston as a family.
Daphne went back to school at the University of Utah and completed what she had started at Utah State. She graduated with high honors with a degree in elementary education. She taught for many years at Meadowbrook Elementary. She was active in the cause of making life better for teachers. She was a member of Davis Education Association for her entire teaching career and served as the DEA president in 1977-78. She spent hours working on behalf of teachers and was part of the team and negotiated many of the benefits that teachers in Davis County enjoy today.
She was preceded in death by her husband and was survived by her sister, Denise Smith Mehr and her brother Joseph Anthony Smith, her four children, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
