Darlene Costanzo

June 18, 1930 — December 19, 2014

There was a grand reunion in heaven on Friday evening as our mom, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and friend reunited with her husband Art and Sisters Bonnie and Margaret, Granny Duncan-Thompson, son-in-law Tim Inman and many others.

She lived as she died, a woman of simple needs putting her family before anything else in the world. She loved playing the piano and singing it was the joy of her Sunday’s. She taught us to garden, cook and eat organically grown foods, before it was popular. She actually had the children bury the garbage in the garden. She wanted pure organic. She read to us and taught us how to use the library. She enjoyed exploring the world with her family and grand-children including National Parks and the innate beauty in all our surroundings. Darlene developed a love of painting and incorporated beauty through her talent.

Grandma loved all children, spending time with them, teaching and reading to them and just being a great example. She had many cookbooks and recipes for everyone to enjoy tasty creations like her Texas sheet brownies, cream tuna on toast with peas, and making purple cows and orange julius.

Darlene was an active member the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught primary and Cub Scouts for decades. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and loved learning about her ancestors and family heritage.

Darlene married Arthur Costanzo on August 22, 1947. She is survived by daughter, Betta Inman of West Valley, Thomas (Alane) Costanzo of Oakley, David (Debbie) Costanzo of Bountiful; 15 grand-children, 21 great-grand-children and one great, great grand-child. Her sister Jo Jackman of Holladay and Brother Doug Duncan of Bountiful and many extended loving Duncan and Costanzo family members.

Funeral services include a visitation Tuesday, December 23, 9:30 – 10:15am at Russon Brothers Mortuary 295 N Main Bountiful UT followed by graveside services Tuesday, December 23, 11:00am at Mount Calvary Cemetery east section 275 U Street Salt Lake City UT.
