Darlene Gaye Nebeker Higginson

March 24, 1933 — March 9, 2016

Gaye Higginson, 82, a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, returned to her heavenly home on March 9, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband R. Keith Higginson, father Wendell P. Nebeker, mother Iva Lou Perry Nebeker, her siblings Lawana, Byron and Denton, as well as a special grandson, Christopher. We envisioned a glorious reunion.

Gaye was born March 24, 1933 in Perry, Utah and spent many happy childhood days there. She is a graduate of Box Elder High School where she played violin in the school orchestra. She later attended Brigham Young University. While working as a secretary in Washington D.C. she met her eternal sweetheart, Keith Higginson. They were married on August 5, 1955 in the LDS Logan Temple. Gaye and Keith made their homes in St. George, Utah; Boise, Idaho; Bountiful, Utah and Vienna, Virginia. Gaye delighted in being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose essential work in this life was to care for, teach and support her family. She was never happier than when her family was gathered around for food, fun and games. She loved to take pictures of every family event and she could not resist a good bargain. Her gift for creating beautiful books of family histories leaves a remarkable legacy of love behind. Keith and Gaye were inseparable and traveled the world together. From 1995 to 1997, they served a mission for the LDS church in the Manchester England Mission.  Gaye served valiantly and with purpose in her callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Faith in Jesus Christ was her life's sustaining influence.

Gaye is survived by her five children: Scott (Cindy) Higginson of Mesa, Arizona; Steve (Karen) Higginson of Casper, Wyoming; Diane Higginson (Michael) Romney of Farmington, Utah; Paul (Michelle) Higginson of South Jordan, Utah; and Susan Higginson (Gary) Gustafson of Merrimack, New Hampshire, 14 grandchildren and 10 1/2 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 18th at 4:00pm at the LDS Chapel at 2230 South 350 East, Kaysville, Utah.  A viewing will be held from 3:00pm to 3:45pm prior to the Funeral Service. Interment will be in Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, Utah on Saturday, March 19th at 1:00pm.
