Darlene Meservy-Jensen

February 25, 1932 — August 17, 2018

Darlene was born on February 25, 1932 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Joseph Alonzo and Aletha Meservy. The oldest of six children, she grew up in Northern Utah. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed a close relationship with her family throughout her life.

Darlene was passionate about education and earned several degrees including a Doctorate of Science in Public Health. She had a long career that encompassed many fields including nursing, public health and education. She taught for many years at the University of Utah and enjoyed working with her many students and colleagues.

Darlene was very proud of her service in the Army Reserve as a nurse and she retired as a Lt. Colonel after serving in Desert Storm. An active member of the LDS Church, she held many callings including service as a senior missionary in the London South Mission.

She devoted her time to serving her community through her church and other organizations. An active member of the Lion’s Club, she was the first female president of the Bountiful Lion’s Club.

Darlene is survived by her sons, Chris and Lon (Julie), eight grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Elwynn Jensen and son Reed.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11 am at the Centerville Stake Chapel 950 North Main St. in Centerville. Friends and family may visit Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main St, Bountiful, and from 9:45 to 10:45 am at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at the Centerville Cemetery.
