Darlene Ora Petersen Gregersen Jensen 1937-2011

Darlene Ora Petersen Gregersen Jensen, who loved bright, clear colors and designing flower gardens at Temple Square, died Oct. 28, 2011, of lung cancer. She had a happy marriage of 47 years with her husband, Juel. After he died, she found happiness in a second marriage with Boyd Jensen.

Born Feb. 27, 1937, to Ora Hutchinson Petersen and Holger Peter Petersen, Salt Lake City. Graduated from Olympus High. At 18 she began a two-and-a-half-year mission in Denmark for the LDS Church while her father was president of the Danish Mission.

She married Juel March 30, 1959, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was a bishops wife twice, Relief Society President in Orchard Third Ward and North Salt Lake Parkway Stake, served with Juel in Albania for LDS Social Services. She excelled at decorating and design of all kinds. Volunteered as a Temple Square Garden Tour Guide and later was paid to make floral arrangements for temples and other church buildings.

Juel died March 9, 2005. Married Boyd Jensen, Farmington, Sept. 19, 2009. He was her loving companion in her final illness.

Darlene was preceded in death by two of her children: Julia, 20, and Marvin, 40, and by a brother, Barr Petersen. She is survived by her husband, M. Boyd Jensen, Farmington; sons: Mark J. (Mona), Clinton; Kent B. (Jennifer), Woods Cross; Michael R.(Camille), Centerville; Alan P. and daughter, Tonya, both North Salt Lake; daughter-in-law, Leslie Gregersen, Denver; 13 grandchildren; brother, Gerald R. Petersen, Driggs, Idaho.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wed., Nov. 2, Farmington South Stake Center, 695 South 200 East, where friends may call, 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Viewing, Tues., Nov. 1, 6-8 p.m., Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Bountiful.
