Darrell Anderson

Our beloved husband, father, son, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend passed away on March 7, 2011 surrounded by his family after a short and hard fought battle with cancer. Larry was the oldest of three sons born to Darrell W. Anderson and Betty Jean Leishman Selley on March 19, 1944 in Cache Valley, Utah. He married Cozette Poppleton in the Logan LDS Temple on July 28, 1967. They were married for forty-three and a half years. He loved and adored his wife and will still be her constant companion until the day they see each other again. They have four children: Eric, Janell, Michele, and Jamie. He is the proud grandpa of 12 grand kids, who loved grandpa dearly. He was their biggest fan, always showing up to their events with a smile on his face and a camera around his neck. They will miss grandpas smarties. Larry was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Gulf States Mission and has served in many church callings such as; scout master, elders quorum president, high priest group leader, bishops counselor, bishop, and high councilman. Larry had a strong testimony of the gospel. He loved his Heavenly Father. Larry proudly served his country in the 198th Infantry Brigade, earning the rank of sergeant E5 during the Vietnam War. This experience left a lasting impression in Larrys heart as he loved and admired the men he served with and the country he fought for. On returning home from the war he finished his education at Utah State University earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering. GO AGGIES! He then started his life long career working for the State of Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Resources. He retired after 34 years of service, 22 of which were serving as Division Director, the longest serving director for the Division. He also served on various national and state water committees. His staff and colleagues were an extension of his family. He truly loved each of them. Larry loved the State of Utah and took his family on many vacations showing them the beauty of it. Larry liked to golf, read, travel, take mom out for dinner and a movie, spend time with family, and was a self taught photographer. Larry is survived by his wife, Cozette; and children: Eric (Laurie) Anderson, Janell (Lynn) Robinson, Michele (Buds) Nelson, Jamie (Steven) Wayman; his 12 grandchildren: Darrell James DJ, Austin, and Aubrey Anderson; Daphne, Hanalee, and Miles Robinson; Brooklyn, Beau and Quincey Nelson; Abigail, Noah and Samuel Wayman; his parents and brothers, Jim (Linda) Anderson and Doug (Linda) Anderson. He is also survived by many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Marvin and Beth Poppleton; and sister-in-law, Nedra Woodland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Porter Lane 2nd Ward, 437 West Porter Lane, Centerville. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning 9:45 -10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
