Darrell J. Hankins, age 77, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on December 15, 2015 in Bountiful, Utah, due to complications of cancer.
Darrell was born on September 15, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Richard and Eva Woodall Hankins. Darrell attended West High School in Salt Lake City, after which he enlisted into the United States Air Force honorably serving from 1957 to 1961. Upon leaving the military he went to work for Kennecott Copper Mine, he later worked for Hill Air Force Base, as a Jet Mechanic, retiring from Hill with 30 years of dedicated service.
He married the love of his life, Ann Preece on January 22, 1960, and raised three children together. After the children were grown, Darrell and Ann enjoyed time together traveling, golfing, spending time with their grandchildren, and Sunday dinners with family.
Darrell was heartbroken at the untimely passing of his sweet wife Ann on August 3, 2001. Although saddened by the loss of his wonderful wife, he kept his cheerful way about him, always trying to put a smile on someone's face. He was a terrific father, son, uncle and grandpa. He loved his family dearly, and will be missed by all.
Darrell is survived by his children, two daughters Cindy Naylor, Susan (Jed) Francom, and one son, Cory (Jill) Hankins; his sister Beverly and brother Carl; grandchildren, Amber (Clovis) Maez, Brian (Ashlee) Naylor, Kallie Schrader, Jacob and Kelton Hankins, Taylor Jacobson, Zachary (Meagan) Francom, Lacey Francom; great grandchildren, Makinley, James, Clovis, Cyris.
He is preceded in death by his sweet wife of 41 years; his parents; sisters Dixie and Donna and brother Ray.
Funeral services and viewing will be held at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Viewing time for family and friends will be Sunday, December 20, 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, December 21, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2015. Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
The family would like to express their great appreciation for the medical staff at Lakeview Hospital for their sweet compassion and care.
