Darrell M. Nielsen

In the early morning hours on May 19, 2016 our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully in his home from Merkel Cell Carcinoma surrounded by his loving family.

Born February 28, 1925 in Hyrum, Utah to Morris E. Nielsen and LaVeda Allen.

Darrell was a visionary man with many accomplishments throughout his lifetime. He was a giant among men, and was loved by all who knew him.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara, and six children; Michelle, Cherie, Bryan, Douglas, Janet, and Michael. Thirteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Marge Purser is his surviving sister.

Darrell was preceded in death by his mother and father, four brothers, four sisters, and daughter, Sandy.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Moss Hill Ward Chapel, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may call  Monday, May 23, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North  Main, Bountiful, Utah, and from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.  Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
