Darrell John Munson

We celebrate the life of Darrell John Munson, 79, of Bountiful, Utah, who returned home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 12th, 2022, surrounded by family.

Darrell John Munson was born June 18th, 1943, to parents Dolly Delphia (born Thim) Munson, and James Thurlan Munson. After the sudden passing of his father Thurlan, Darrell was lovingly raised by his Mother and step-Father Rex Evan Munson, as the middle of three children: with older brother Kenneth Munson, and younger sister Judith Munson.

Darrell had an adventurous life and worked wherever the wind took him. He had various career paths, although his passion truly lied with the Railroad. He found this devotion in early adulthood, working as the Superintendent with Kaiser Steel at Eagle Mountain Iron Mine for over a decade until the mine closed its doors. Following his career with the Railroad, Darrell made his move into the Mortgage Industry. From 1987-2012 he worked as an auditor for Deloitte, a contractor for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, then later FDIC.

Darrell’s auditing career took him to every state in the country except the Dakotas. His travels allowed him time to enrich his love of American history, especially the Native American culture. He was captivated by their music, language, and history. He also embraced the Civil War and Mormon pioneer era and researched his family history interwoven in that period.

Darrell married his soulmate Susan Frederiksen on December 6th, 1992, in Mystic, Connecticut. They were married for 30 years and blended their family with limitless love.

Darrell is survived by his wife Susan, their six children: Lindee (Cherre), Carla, Eric (Denise), Bryan, Andrea (JeNN) and Adam, his 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17th, 2022, at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held from 12:45-1:45 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary prior to services. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery.
