Farmington-On March 12th, 2015, we lost a giant of a man. Our husband, father, brother, son and friend, David Alan Stephens passed away after a valiant battle with Pancreatitis. He always puts his family first. Never did he let a day go by without him showing his love for them. David had a great love of people, and many called him a good friend and example. His love of Jesus Christ was exemplified by his service and generosity to others.
He was born July 01, 1968 in Yuba City California to David Lee Stephens and Nellie Luera. He was raised in Chico California and attended Pleasant Valley High School. Following graduation, he served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Columbia and Venezuela Missions.
Upon his return, David met the love of his life and soul mate Laura Diane Cooley. They were sealed for time and all eternity on May 21, 1993 in the Oakland California Temple. Together they have raised two beautiful children. David simply adores Laura and loved to spend time with her. They have always worked well in business and life together. David has a huge heart and is a great listener and confidant. He has a great ability to make people feel special. David is caring, thoughtful and full of life. He enjoys being in the outdoors. Camping, fishing, motorcycling and traveling were his favorite. He was a strong supporter of the Boy Scouts Program and all that it represents. He carried that love over to the interaction he had with the young men that he came in contact with over the years. He loved the Young Men's Program and the young men saw him as a leader, example, friend, the best cook ever, and referred to him as their "Papa Stephens". He is a faithful son of God and has served in many other church callings through the years.
We are grateful for our knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and know that David has been taken home to a loving Heavenly Father. We will sorely miss our "Baby" and "Daddy" and long for the day when we will once again be united.
David is survived by his wife, Laura Stephens, his children Taylor and Parker Stephens, his parents David and Nellie Stephens and brother, Daniel (Jerilynn) Stephens.
