Dave Kurtz, of Bountiful, passed away on November 1, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife Lisa of 48 years, and their children. He was the most healthy and handsome 74-year-old around. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was dedicated to his family and many lifelong friends. He was blessed to have all of his children living in, or close to Bountiful bringing frequent opportunities for celebrations with the entire family whom he loved dearly.
Dave was born on May 25, 1947 to Lainey McFalls and Abe Kurtz in Brooklyn New York. His family would then relocate to Rosedale, Queens. Canada became a second home after spending summers with his mother’s family in London & Grand Bend, Ontario.
He attended Far Rockaway High School where he was captain of the football team and was named to NYC’s All-City Team. He attended Northern Michigan University for a short time before he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Honor Guard in Washington D.C. in 1967. His detail rotated between guarding President Johnson at the White House, Camp David and Arlington National Cemetery.
He then moved to Utah and graduated from Weber State University. While attending WSU he would find his Lisa Rae Barnson and they were married December 14, 1973.
The majority of his career was spent at Liquid Sugars Inc. where he was sales manager for the western United States. Dave enjoyed spending his lunch breaks at the Sports Mall playing pick-up basketball. He continued in the same field at Archer-Daniels-Midland company (ADM) until his retirement in 2015.
Dave was a family man, a loyal friend, a voracious reader, a history buff, and a sports enthusiast. It was not uncommon that you would see Dave randomly show up to a high school sporting event just to enjoy the game. He also enjoyed spending his summers at Lake Coeur d’ Alene. His daily routine often included reading the newspaper and checking in on his children and grandchildren. He was a man that didn’t need or want much in life other than making sure his wife and kids were taken care of and safe.
Dave is survived by his wife Lisa and their four children and spouses Derek (Laura) grandchildren Isabelle & Maya, Brad (Lisa) grandchildren Brady, Charlie, Macey, Lainey, Ashley (Jared) grandchildren Zaida, Stevie, Petra, Kevin (Kelsey). His sister Robin and his brother Peter. He was preceded in death by his parents Lainey, Abe and brother Ricky.
The family will hold a private service, followed by a Celebration of Life with family and friends TBD. We would like to thank everyone for all your love and support over the past couple of months.
In Dave’s words to his Lisa “Say Goodnight Gracie”.
In lieu of flowers Dave would appreciate your vote for Trump in 2024. ߘ
