David Dwight Judd

November 7, 1927 — March 19, 2018

World War II and Korean War veteran David Dwight Judd, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home early in the morning on March 19, 2018. David was born on November 7, 1927 on a farm in Sutherland, Utah to Thomas Sevy Judd and Elizabeth Heywood Judd. David was 4th oldest of 6 children. He worked hard on the farm as a kid, loved teasing his sisters and learned to outrun his older brother when he got him mad. He graduated from Delta High School in 1945, was student body president his senior year, and always enjoyed being a Delta rabbit. David enlisted in the US Army and served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division during WWII. Upon returning from active military service, he graduated from Utah State University receiving a bachelor's degree in business and finance. After graduation in 1951 he was called back to active duty as a Second Lieutenant in the Army during the Korean War.
In 1954, David met his future wife Rita Louise Pessetto, an Italian beauty from Carbon County. They eloped to Elko, Nevada, and in 1976 were sealed to their two children in the Salt Lake Temple. David and Rita recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. David was a natural salesman and worked 25 years for NCR (National Cash Register). He was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed his time serving in the Branch Presidency of Barton Creek Inn and as Executive Secretary of the Bountiful East Stake. David and Rita also served at the Humanitarian Center for the LDS church. David was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing in the Seniors League at Lakeside. He was still swinging the club through his 89th birthday. David was known for his sense of humor, his adept storytelling abilities (although sometimes far-fetched), and he never left a room without making a friend. He was a great support and had a deep love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
David is survived by his wife Rita; two children Paul (Jan) Judd and Julie (Bob) Gibson; sister Jean Andrus; five grandchildren, Nicole (Quinton) Green, Steven Gibson, David Judd, Jennifer (Treg) Corbridge, and Danny Judd; and great grandchildren Carter and Madison Green.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24th at 1:00 pm in the Mueller Park 2nd Ward, 1825 South 800 East in Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to funeral services starting at 11:00 am.
A special thanks to Kelli Davis and Raquel Cate with Utah Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful care.
