David I Speth, (age 64) passed away peacefully Sunday November 3, 2019 due to a traumatic brain injury sustained from an accidental fall at home. David was born on July 27th in Salt Lake City Utah. He was the first born child to Irene A Chavez Valdez Speth Humphreys and Jose Remigio (Ray) Valdez. David and his 3 younger siblings were later adopted by their Stepfather Kendrick Speth.
David was a graduate from Layton High School and continued to Weber State University, where he earned his degree in Welding. David married his childhood sweet heart Donette Kay Voss Speth and together they had three beautiful children. Daja Bre Speth of Layton, Desiree Speth Sandoval of Layton and Kole David Speth. David had one beautiful grandson, Oaklin Kole Sandoval, and two adorable grand-dogs, Moki and Tate. David worked for the United States Airforce at Hill AFB. He spent most of his 30-year career working on the F16 fighter jets. He had been enjoying retired life since 2014.
David was the most selfless, adoring, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved projects and could fix anything. He personally described himself as a “ happy- happy man.” David had a passion for life, golfing on two different men’s leagues, weekly lunches with the boys, and spending weekends at the lake as a family. He loved every chance he was given to spend time with his many nephews, nieces, cousins, Tia’s, and friends. He always did so with humor, passion, joy, and lots of hugs & kisses. He loved golfing, boating, following NASCAR, and he made the best stuffed grape leaves each Christmas.
David is survived by his wife Donette, daughters Daja & Des, grandson Oaklin, sister Esther (Mike) Axtell, sister Ramona (Lonnie) LaPlante, brother Michael (Brandy) Speth, sister Tamra (Chris) Hallmark, four half brothers (Todd, Richard, B.A., and Paul Valdez), and numerous other family members. He is preceded in death by his son, Kole David Speth, Mother, Irene Humphreys, father, Ray Valdez, and stepfather, Ken Speth.
Per David’s wishes, he will be cremated and buried with his son at Syracuse city cemetery, where a Graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 1pm. A celebration of life will be held at his Daughter Daja’s home following the service. We welcome all who would like to attend. We believe he would want everyone there to support one another and share all the good memories they have of him. We are very grateful for all the wonderful friends, and family, who have reached out to us in support at this difficult time. Hugs, the Speth Family.
