December 25, 1993 – June 1, 2021
David died unexpectedly from a medical event on June 1, 2021, at the age of 27, in his apartment in Draper, Utah.
David is survived by his Parents: Dan & Karen Love; his Son: Dawson Love; his Sister: Katie Love Jackson (Derek); and Nephew: Ethan Jackson; and Nieces: Molly & Natalie Jackson. David’s dog Flynn Rider will live out his days with David’s family. David also leaves behind countless friends and bonus parents and grandparents.
Born on Christmas Day, David was a shining light all throughout his childhood. The family always celebrated his birthday on the first weekend of December to give him his own special day. His parents say the best way to describe David as a little boy is: if you dropped him off naked in the middle of downtown Denver, he’d find his way home to Littleton, fully clothed, fed, and with $100 in his pocket! He was a friendly, resourceful, and “unafraid of trying” kind of kid.
When the Love kids were young, his older sister, Katie, just found David irritating. He would scheme and contemplate how best to agitate her. One time, she was eating lunch in her play tent in the backyard. David snuck a sprinkler into the tent and turned on the water full blast. He knew that he would get in trouble, but he concluded that it was totally worth it! As adults, Katie & David have developed a deep bond of love and friendship. He loved his sister and looked forward to seeing Katie and her family every time he was in Colorado.
David loved his Son, Dawson, who is 7 ½ yrs old. They spent many memorable times together. A recent time together was a week-long trip to Florida for a good friend’s wedding. David & Dawson really bonded on this trip. They might not have gone to Disney, but they did experience the beach, the zoo, Zip-lining, Universal Studios, and Swimming with the Manatees in Crystal Springs. Dawson has his daddy’s friendly, loving, and kind heart and is an absolute joy to be around, just like his daddy.
David was an avid Disney fanatic since a young age. His first time going was a highlight of his childhood, and he was hooked from then on. He went to Disney World & Disneyland/California Adventure every chance he got! When he needed a Disney fix, but couldn’t go to the theme park, he went to the Disney Store and usually came home with a mug for his collection! He even moved to Florida as an adult for a brief time and fulfilled the dream of working at Disney World. When he wasn’t working, he was at the parks enjoying the magic!
David adored his nephew and nieces: Ethan(7), Molly(5), and Natalie(8 mo). He spoke about them often and always looked forward to spending time with them. David loved to spoil them with Disney gear, Princess dresses and T-shirts.
Derek, his brother-in-law, recalls a fun story of how David had to pick up a new tv. So, they went to a 24-hour Walmart around midnight and then stayed up all night installing it and playing video games.
David is a free spirit, willing to try anything. His latest hobby was Indoor Rock Climbing at The Quarry in Orem, Utah. Recently, he was climbing with his friend, Andy, and was 40ft off the ground. He sent his dad a picture captioned, “Can you tell I hate heights?” He also spoke about a desire to go skydiving real soon.
David dabbled in a lot of hobbies. David liked to wake board, enjoyed snowboarding, fishing, paddle boarding, and was learning to play the guitar. He also had picked up a trombone and was trying to teach himself to play that, and also the piano. He was an Eagle Scout, and a Certified Scuba Diver at only 13 years old. David absolutely loved nature. He spent time hiking somewhere almost every week. While living in Utah these last few years, he hiked up to the “Y” countless times, even late at night. David was looking forward to many camping trips this summer with his bonus family, The Petty’s. Dawson was even going to join them for one of these adventures.
David loved to take long drives. It is probable that even he lost track of how many times he drove to Florida & California on the spur of the moment! David loved Sunday drives and picnics, hot-tubbing, baking, dancing, bowling, and was always hosting YSA get-togethers at his apartment. He was really looking forward to meeting many new friends at his new apartment complex and at the YSA ward.
David started his work career at Chick-fil-A at the young age of 14. David has always been a hard worker and was very proud of the 2yrs he worked for CFA. He had such an entrepreneurial spirit, for a long time he wanted to have his own store.
Most recently, David was pursuing his bachelor’s IT degree at BYU-Idaho (online). With COVID shutting down the campus, he moved to Utah last year and started his new job in IT with Mister Carwash. He loved to travel, and this job had him traveling all over the country to new acquisitions for the technology installs. Wherever he was for work, if there was a temple nearby, he went to it. With COVID shutdowns, this was one of the things he missed the most, attending the temple. He had attended the temple most weeks since being endowed. So, if he couldn’t go into the temple for now, he at least went and enjoyed the peace from the parking lot. On a recent Sunday drive, he drove to each of the Temples in the Salt Lake area, starting as far north as Logan, all the way down to Provo, visiting 9 temples and a few more under construction. He would sit in the parking lot for ten minutes, then drive to the next. He had a plan to take a trip and visit the 42 temples in the surrounding western states. David Loved the Temple!!
How grateful we are for the eternal covenants of the temple that have sealed our family together forever!
We love you David. You truly touched the lives of everyone you knew. Your vibrant, loving personality, and Big Bear Hugs, will be deeply missed by many!
Until We Meet Again Our Sweet Boy………
