David Judson Dewey, age 79, died February 26, 2022 of natural causes related to Alzheimer’s. He was born December 20, 1942 in Los Angeles, California to David Dunham and Wynona Anderson Dewey.
Dave served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lima, Peru. He later joined the Army and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He had a love for pistol marksmanship and competed on a team with the US Army Reserve for many years. He was particularly proud of earning multiple “President’s Hundred” tabs, awarded to the 100 top-scoring shooters in the annual President’s Pistol Match.
He married Sue Ellen Gabbott on June 2, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple, and they had 7 children: Karin (Sterling) Brown, Katie Robinson, DJ (Kim) Dewey, Tom (Tiffany) Dewey, Geoff Dewey, Mike Dewey and Sarah (Dallin) Jolley.
He loved to help others and welcomed the opportunities to serve that came his way. Whether it was for friends and family members or one of the many opportunities that arose through church callings, he was almost always willing to give of his time and resources to help out.
He is survived by his seven children and sixteen grandchildren, and his sister Nancy.
