BOUNTIFUL-David Foss Lewis, 83, passed away on March 21, 2014 due to complications related to dementia. Dave was born in Bountiful Utah, to Foss and Irene Lewis on August 18, 1931. He was raised and resided in Bountiful where he met the love of his life and eternal companion, Elaine Freeman Lewis, at Cantaloupe Days. They shared a melon and cottage cheese treat, and he stole her heart. They were married in Elko, Nevada on May 17, 1952. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 17, 1955. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in his callings, many of which were alongside Elaine, which pleased him. He lived a lifetime of service to family, ward members, neighbors, and friends who could use a helping hand. He was generous with his time, talents, and means. Dave was co-owner of Foss Lewis and Sons Construction and was known for his skill with machinery and his diligent work ethic. He earned the respect of his co-workers and associates in business by being dedicated to customer service and honesty. He served in the National Guard as an equipment operator and skilled marksman. He enjoyed competing in shooting sports. He also had a love of engines and power. He drove a modified race car in his early years and became a great fan of NASCAR racing. He also enjoyed raising horses which he worked with daily in the early years of the sand and gravel business and later used for recreation and racing. Above all hobbies or work he loved his family. He laid a solid foundation for family unity and great example of service to all of the family. Each member can recall a time when they needed help, and he was first in line.
