David Martin Christensen

March 23, 1940 — July 17, 2017

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, David Martin Christensen, passed away unexpectedly July 17, 2017.

He was born on March 23, 1940, to Leonard and Maurine Christensen in Los Angeles.  He had an older half-brother, Bruce, and half-sister, Joyce.  When he was 12 the family moved to Provo, where David attended Brigham Young High School and participated in varsity sports.  He attended Brigham Young University, where he studied the Russian language, including a course in Leningrad, and earned his degree in 1968.

He married ReNae Andreasen in 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three sons, Richard, Clark and Glade, whom he loved very much and of whom David was very proud.

Dave was an amateur radio operator, K7bwz, and enjoyed communicating with people all over the world.  He served as State Director of the Military Affiliate Radio System, an emergency preparedness program.  His hobby led to his career as an electronics technician at Utah Power and Light.  He retired in 1998.

David was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He loved missionary work, serving several stake and Temple Square missions in addition to his two year mission in Southern California.  He was in several bishoprics, and on the High Council.  He loved singing in the ward choir.  He was a kind, non-judgmental gentleman, always willing to serve.  We will miss him.

Survived by his wife, sons: Richard (America); Clark (Laurie); and Glade (Mary), 14 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Orchard 9th Ward chapel, 155 Coventry Way in North Salt Lake.  Visitations will be held at the church Friday, July 28th, 7-8:30 pm and Saturday prior to services from 9:30-10:45 am.  Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
