David Randall Eggett 1953-2017

Bountiful, Utah

Randy passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. He passed from complications due to multiple strokes. He was born in Salt Lake City on May 8th, 1953 to Bette LeRue Hunt, and Joseph Orson Eggett Jr. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah with his parents and siblings, where the mountains served as his playground. He always loved the great outdoors. He graduated from Bountiful High School in 1971, and then served a full time mission for the LDS church in Lima, Peru. Upon his return, he met and married his sweet heart and eternal companion, Shauna Jeanne Gandy in the Salt Lake, LDS temple on October 10, 1975. They were blessed with five wonderful children: Jana, Krista, Jacob, Julie and David. 

Randy worked in the construction field and ran his own business. He was the best cement man ever. He would always check on cement he had done years earlier, to see how it was holding up. He was a wonderful provider for his family. He was a pilot and served in the Civil Air Patrol, Bountiful Jeep Posse, and in the Utah Air Boat Association. Because of his skill, he was called upon to volunteer in many search and rescues, which he happily and selflessly did.

He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to serve others in any way he could. He loved his family and his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time together camping, fishing at the lake, waterskiing and at being together at family reunions. He always had a funny joke to share and a new food to encourage others to try. He was an avid hunter, loved riding on his motorcycle, and flying planes.

               He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 42-years, and his children Jana (Jason) Pace, Krista (Darren) Beck, Jacob (Amber) Eggett, Julie (Kyle) Reed, and David (Sarah) Eggett.  He is also survived by twenty-two wonderful grandchildren, his siblings Connie (Ted) Wooley, Terry (Colleen) Eggett, Bette Jo (Dave) Erickson, his step dad, Boyd Rohwer, and his in-laws Rupert and Marilyn Gandy, along with many other family members. His parents and brother in-law, Kim Gandy, preceded him in death.

               We would like to thank our angel nurses Tammy Goodwin and Kelli Davis and the whole hospice team for their sweet care during the last eight months.

               Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 1st, 2017, at the Maple Hills LDS Chapel (1320 East 1975 South Bountiful, Utah)  There will be a viewing on Thursday, November 30th, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Russon Brothers Mortuary (295 North Main Street, Bountiful Utah) and another viewing Friday, December 1st, 2017 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, at the Maple Hills LDS Chapel prior to funeral services. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
