David Russon Woolley

August 25, 1941 — November 26, 2021

David, our much-loved brother, husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, November 26, 2021.

He was born on August 25, 1941, to Joseph F. Woolley and Myrtle LaRae Russon Woolley in Salt Lake City, UT. He was raised in Magna, UT, where he graduated from Cyprus High School and participated on the football and swim teams, choir, and band. He married his sweetheart, Linda Ann Smith Woolley in the Salt Lake Temple on September 14, 1961, and they were blessed with three children. They enjoyed singing, dancing, boating, fishing, camping, hunting, road trips, traveling, as well as raising race horses and brittnay spaniels.

Dave was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held numerous callings in the bishopric, high-priest’s and elder’s quorums, scouting, primary, as ward chorister, baptismal coordinator, and temple preparation teacher.

He was definitely a people person and worked for years as a salesman for General Electric and later retired from Valin Corporation. He was a meticulous draftsman and created his own design for building over 100 airboats. He was an avid sportsman and served as president of the Utah Airboat Association and the Chariot Racing Association. Through his hobbies and church service he made life-long friends and many treasured memories.

Dave is survived by his sweetheart of 60 years, Linda Ann Woolley, his son, Todd David (Peggy) Woolley of Ivins, UT, and two daughters Pamela (Rod) Stephens of Morgan, UT, and Janel Woolley of Kaysville, UT. Two siblings JoRae Haynes, and Dennis (Judy) Woolley. Seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Douglas and Dorothy Smith, and grandson Ryan Clark Woolley.

We will all dearly miss his warm smile, sense of humor, leadership, talents, teaching, wisdom, bear hugs, and love. We know you will be watching over us until we meet again.
