Our brilliant star, the light of our lives went nova June 28, 2018. David was born July 23, 1980 in Salt Lake City Utah to Richard Mead and Virginia DeWitt. From a very young age he showed how thoughtful and brilliant he was. Always interested in everything, thinking through things and asking questions. As he grew up he studied Philosophy, Astronomy, Religions and consciousness and he earned a BA in History from Westminster College. He had a wickedly funny sense of humor and had a unique way of viewing the world. Conversations with him could go on for hours and you would always leave the conversation with new facts or a new way of viewing something. He had an engaging personality that drew people to him. People who knew him were truly glad to have him in their lives.
David developed some devastating chronic illnesses starting in high school and struggled with many surgeries, chronic pain and medical procedures over the years. He faced all of it with great bravery. He was never a complainer and still always thought of others. Ultimately his body betrayed him, and the long struggle ended. He went in peace as a survivor and warrior.
He is survived by his parents Richard Mead (Annette Mead) and Virginia DeWitt, his older sister Melissa Mead and his nephew and niece Andrew Doenges and Ema Doenges as well as his very close friend Melissa Sanders. We will hold him in our hearts and in the stars.
In memory of David make a donation of time or money to an environmental charity of your choice and expand your knowledge, read a book!
