David Sydney Barclay

David Sydney Barclay, 63, of Bountiful Utah passed away August 18, 2017. David, the son of David Darrell Barclay and Marie Cazier was born on October 18, 1953. In his youth, he served in the Oakland California mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. 

David spent his life working with troubled youth. He worked at many different ranches and boys homes, and truly felt it was his life’s calling to help those kids who needed help the most. He was always a listening ear and understanding counselor.

He was a talented bagpiper, and loved to play the bagpipes with the Utah Pipe band. He spent countless hours using his talents to honor his Scottish heritage that he was so proud of. 

David married (later divorced) Lynn Chinsky, and together they had one son. He also married Clarinda Malmstrom (later divorced), and together they had four children. David considered his children and grandchildren to be his biggest blessings in life. He told everyone that his grandchildren were the jewels in his crown of life.

He loved the outdoors. A love which he has passed on to his children and grandchildren. David was the happiest when he was on the mountain fishing with his family. He was famous in his family for his Sunday drives. He always said that being in the mountains was his way to connect to God. His very favorite place to spend time was at the family’s cabin in Midway Utah. When his health declined to the point that he was no longer able to make the trip up the mountain, he enjoyed reminiscing with his kids about fishing and cabin trips.

David leaves behind five children: Joshua (Esther) Chinsky of Centerville UT, Ryan (Melissa) Barclay of Richfield UT, Mylea (Kevin) Crawford of Henderson NV, Daniel (Ashley) Barclay of St. George Ut, and Cambria (Arley) Sheldon of Spanish Fork as well as 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother; Marie Cazier, step mother; Virginia Barclay, brothers; John (Shelley) Barclay, Jim (Christell) Barclay, and Bruce (Angie) Barclay.  He is preceded in death by his father; David Darrell Barclay, and grandson; David Emmanuel Chinsky.

Viewing services will be Wednesday August 23 2017 at 9:45 a.m. at Russon Brothers in Bountiful Utah followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m.
