David Verl Hansen, 71, our loving husband, father, stepfather, grandpa Dave, great grandpa and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father unexpectedly at home Friday, July 2, 2021.
Dave was born May 3, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the son of Willis Verl Hansen and Thelma Hardy.
Dave grew up in Salt Lake City in the Poplar Grove area. He was an only child and had many fond memories of visiting grandparents and cousins in Mt. Pleasant and Provo.
When Dave was 12 years of age, he started working with his father at the New House Hotel. This started Dave’s love for work and staying busy.
Soon after graduating from West High School, he married Patricia Johnson. They had 4 children together. They later divorced.
Dave married Leslie Hintze Eggett on July 25, 2001. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on July 25, 2008.
Dave retired from the Davis School District after 30 years of service in the Custodial Department. Then he ventured off to be a tour bus driver for Coach USA, a school bus driver for two different school districts, and then ended with maintaining and driving the school buses for Madeleine Choir School for 15 years. Many grandchildren and neighbor kids loved riding in the bus with Dave.
Dave was a kind, loving and patient man. He was one who never talked badly of others. He made everyone around him feel loved and always had a smile on his face. He was a hard worker and always needed to be busy. He loved tinkering around with everything. He wanted everything working at its best. He could fix about anything.
Dave had a strong testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ. He served in the Cub Scouts, Primary, and was the Building Maintenance Coordinator and Shed Scheduler. He always had half the work already done by the time others showed up.
Dave is survived by his wife, Leslie; his children Tamara (Scott) Brunetti, Krista (Keith) Bates, John (Erin) Hansen and Jennifer Warren; stepchildren Jeremy (Tiffany) Eggett, Alexia (Sunia) Tua’one, Brandie (Nathan) Silvernail, and James Patric (Amanda) Eggett; 13 grandchildren, 12 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, stepson Zachary Eggett and grandson Brayden Neilson.
