Our sweet baby, Dean Hayes Cannon, came into this world and blessed our lives on Sunday, August 18th, 2024. During Dean’s routine anatomy scan, it was discovered that he had a rare condition called hydrops, later found to be caused by Parvovirus B-19. Despite a herculean effort to save Dean’s life, including a couple of blood transfusions administered to his tiny body while he was still inside his mama, Dean showed incredible strength and a surprising improvement. However, his mama, Amanda, developed a very rare illness called Mirror Syndrome. Tragically, her health declined to the point where she could no longer carry Dean any further. At 23 weeks, Dean was born perfect, knowing only the loving arms of his mom, Amanda, and dad, Clark. He will be deeply missed by all his family members, especially his proud big sister, Jane, and brother, Carter.
Although our hearts are broken, we are incredibly proud of Dean and his mama Amanda’s fight to keep him with us. Our entire family has felt an overwhelming love for him, even though he lived for just a few short hours. We find comfort in the thought of our family members who welcomed Dean home in heaven, where he can watch over us. We know that our Savior’s plan is always perfect.
We would like to thank the medical staff at IMC for their efforts to save Dean and for ensuring that his mom remains here with us.
We love you, baby Dean, and we can’t wait for our tender reunion on the other side.
