Dean Christian Linschoten

Dean Christian Linschoten, 84, peacefully passed away on Jan. 19, 2011, at his home in So. SLC, Ut. Born July 15,1925 to Hattie Wing and Chris Linschoten of SLC. Married Emma Mae Cejka in Twin Falls, Idaho 1948. Later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Attended South High and received his diploma at sea while serving in the US Navy during World War II. A decorated veteran, he served on LST 34 in the Pacific theater. A talented musician, he played the drums over 20 years in various locations including the Manhattan Club, downtown Salt Lake City. Employed for 35 years by Sears and was the dept. manager of the auto center when he retired. In 1990 until his death, he was a docent for the Hogle Zoo. He had earned the President Volunteer Service Lifetime Achievement Award for 4000 hours of service. The city of So. SLC recognized Dean and his wife for their involvement in the community with the 2007 Total Citizen Award. Dean was an avid fisherman and camper. He loved his 3 and 4 generation annual vacations, traveling, tinkering and working on various wood projects in his shop. Member of the LDS church.

He is survived by Emma, his loving wife of 62 years, son Randy(Sharon), daughter Penny (John) Ritterbusch, 7 grandchildren: David, Debra (Earl), Jake, Jay R. (Cristina), Bobby, Grant, Reed. 7 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Glenda Kuhn and brother, Eldon.

Russon Brothers Mortuary is overseeing arrangements. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday Jan.24, at Central Park Ward (3rd East 2700 So.). Viewing at Ward prior to service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Interment at Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale. A special thanks to Boyd Marshall for always being near when needed.
