Harrisville-Deanna Joan Nelson Murdock passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at her home. She was born November 1st, 1939 in Brigham City, Utah to Glen and Edna Nelson. Deanna graduated from Box Elder High School and Weber State College with an Associates Degree in Business. She was involved in many social and extracurricular activities. She served a full time mission to Hawaii which became a favorite place that she returned to often. Deanna and her sweetheart, Michael Dennis Murdock, were married on September 20, 1963 in the Logan LDS Temple. This coming September they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Deanna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a natural leader and served in many auxiliaries. Living the gospel, raising her seven children, and serving with her husband in many callings was her life. She presided with her husband over the California, Ventura Mission, and taught English at S.C.U.T. in Guangzhou, China. She had a love for life and many gifts and talents that blessed those she served. She was warm and kind, and those who knew her felt of her deep love for them. She had a testimony of the Savior which was very apparent in the life she lived.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her children: Mike (Jessica) Murdock, Lani Murdock, Todd (Lisa) Murdock, Jana (Mark) Pendleton, Jodi (Brett) Benson, Ladd (Kristen) Murdock, Brandon (Cari) Murdock; and 28 grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers and one sister, Steve (Sandy) Nelson, Scott (Carol) Nelson, Kirk (Gena) Nelson, Sherry (Terry) Thackeray, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Harrisville 5th Ward Chapel, 2360 North 600 West. Family and friends are invited to meet at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main. Interment will be at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery in Bountiful.
We will be forever grateful for her shining example.
