Dee Ernest Anderson 10/07/1920 – 03/23/2007

Dee Ernest Anderson, 86, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2007, in Bountiful, Utah, surrounded by his loving family.

Dee was born October 7, 1920 in Otto, Wyoming to Ernest Nephi Anderson and Myra Emma Tolman. He Married Venus May, March 8, 1943 in Otto, Wyoming. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific and with the occupation forces in Japan. GI benefits paid for college, and Dee received bachelors degrees from the University of Wyoming in Psychology and Sociology and in History. He taught High School in Graybull, Wyoming before moving to Salt Lake City. In Salt Lake City he worked as a teacher and counselor at West High School for 31 years. He touched the lives of many students over the years and is remembered as a powerful influence for good in many, many lives.

Dee was a member of the LDS Church where he served as a Bishop and member of the Stake High Council. Perhaps his greatest talent was that of counseling people and helping them to make good decisions.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; his brother, James William Jean Anderson; his sister, Donna Willis Michaelson; Children: Diane Alex Gilbert, Marsha Calvin Hunter, Pam Robin Doi, Cynthia Wayne Murakami, Jerilyn Paul Hanks, William May Carla Anderson, and daughter in law, Elaine Anderson. His posterity also includes 26 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Miles Harston and by his oldest son James Dee Anderson.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rose Park North Stake Center, 1200 North 1200 West., Salt Lake City. Friends may call on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Salt Lake Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, and prior to services at the ward from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow in the Redwood Memorial Estates, 6400 South Redwood Road, Salt Lake City. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to West High School Dee E. Anderson Scholarship Fund.
